The Purple Passport, January 2014

Entrepreneur Sarah Watkins has managed to put together a boutique on DC‘s U Street with all the fashion punch of a Barneys and the charm of a corner grocery store. In opening Caramel, Watkins took inspiration from her grandparents, who owned and operated independent grocery stores for over 40 years. So, if you just happen to be in the U Street neighborhood and need a sweet hit of style, definitely pop into Caramel. It’s not unlike stopping into the “good ol’ five-and-dime” for some candy!

WTOP Living, December 2012

This store features a wide range of items, but the store's main attraction is its clothing. Customers can find anything from elegant women's jackets to men's jeans. Eco-friendly, recycled and vegan lines are also available from Ethos Paris, a French fashion house that creates organic garments, and Novacas, a Portuguese shoe company committed to providing environmentally-friendly products. This quaint store also purchases items from local designers like ADMK Jewelry.
