Sarah Zuckerman

Norway

May 7-June 24, 2012

Opening: Saturday, May 19, 6-8pm

The collection, Norway, by local artist Sarah Zuckerman is a series of photographs encompassing her time as an Artist in Residence at Kunstnerhuset i Lofoten in June and July 2011. Having never before been to Norway, she had a lifelong desire to travel to the land where her grandmother spent her childhood. Her photographs are an intimate view of northern Norway during the summer months when it becomes the land of the midnight sun. These images explore the full spectrum of natural light as it touches the breathtaking landscape and waters.

Sarah Zuckerman attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design and graduated with honors from the 2D Fine Art department in 2009. She won the Arches Paper Award at the Printmakers’ Biennial in 2009 for her piece “Figures in Blue”. She became director of Panopticon Gallery of Photography from 2009 to 2010. In 2011, she traveled to Norway as an Artist in Residence at Kunstnerhuset i Lofoten. Currently she resides in Arlington and teaches art classes at Northern Virginia Elementary Schools.
